Rose Stockman

Welcome!

Congratulations on the upcoming birth of your baby. Whether this is your first child or your eighth, birth is a life-changing experience. My name is Rose Stockman and I am a wife and mother of two wonderful boys. (Oskar 9/04 & Milo 1/07) The experience of carrying, birthing, and nursing my young children has profoundly shaped the fullness with which I approach life.

I was fortunate to have personally experienced the gentle touch and kind words of a doula at the birth of my second son Milo. This experience rejuvenated my belief in the love and kindness that lies at the heart of humanity. It is with great honor and respect that I offer my own hands and heart to women in that same challenge of birthing their own children.

I have known since adolescence that I would have some role in childbirth. In 2003 I received a BA in Drama from University of Washington fulfilling pre-med requirements with an interest in obstetrics. During college however, I began a journey that led me to get trained as a doula through Seattle Midwifery School’s DONA approved birth doula training. (April 03) I found a niche in doula work that allowed me to be wholly present for women’s emotional and physical needs and it has been a great fit since. I am currently enrolled in the Childbirth Educator Training Program at Bates Technical College in Tacoma, Washington.
